American Abrams tanks will not be a key factor on the battlefield, they must be used very carefully for carefully thought out operations. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in an interview with Warzone.

According to him, the 31 Abrams promised to the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not provide a significant advantage in the current course of hostilities.
They need to be used very specifically for very specific, well-designed operations, because if they are used on the front lines and just in combined arms combat, they won’t last long on the battlefield. They need to be used in breakthrough operations, but very well prepared, Budanov is convinced.
In his opinion, now combat operations on the ground mainly take place almost without armored vehicles and all advancement is the work of the infantry, and not the armored fists. The reason for this is dense mining, a huge saturation of anti-tank weapons, as well as the work of FPV drones and artillery, which begins to strike the armored group even during its advance. In addition, the Russian occupation army still has attack helicopters. All this practically eliminates the possibility of “tank breakthroughs.”
Budanov believes that it is necessary to increase the number of long-range artillery, which can destroy enemy positions at a great distance.
