The United States plans to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine, but it will not include the ATACMS long-range missile system. Reuters wrote this on Wednesday, September 20, citing an unnamed American official.
The publication states that during the meeting between US President Joe Biden and President Vladimir Zelensky, other new types of weapons for Ukraine will be announced, but not ATACMS missiles.
In addition, Washington plans to transfer to Ukraine more Avenger short-range air defense systems, which use Stinger missiles.
The planned aid package for Ukraine includes TOW and AT4 anti-tank weapons, GMLRS missiles for HIMARS, Javelin anti-tank missiles and other equipment.
According to the official, the package is still being finalized and may change.
Western countries must help Ukraine protect critical infrastructure in winter by providing air defense systems, said German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock.
We remind you that the previous day, a new military aid package for Ukraine in the amount of 400 million euros was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
