Pressuring Poland in multilateral forums or filing complaints “are inappropriate methods,” Warsaw said.
Ukrainian Ambassador Vasily Zvarych was summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry due to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s statement to the UN General Assembly. This was announced by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, September 20.
It is indicated that the ambassador was received by the Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pavel Yablonsky.
“The Deputy Minister conveyed the strong protest of the Polish side against the statements made yesterday by President V. Zelensky at the UN General Assembly, saying that some EU countries are pretending to be united, indirectly supporting Russia. Emphasizing of the Deputy Foreign Minister that this thesis is incorrect in relation to Poland and, especially unfair to our country, which has supported Ukraine since the first days of the war,” the statement said.
The department noted that putting pressure on Poland in multilateral forums or sending complaints “are not appropriate methods for resolving disputes between our countries.”
Jablonski emphasized that “these actions will not be effective against Poland, because the actions taken by the Polish government to protect the interests of Polish farmers are in accordance with national law, EU law and international law.”
He also expressed concern about the recent public statement of high representatives of the Ukrainian government, “imposing a one-sided view on many aspects of the problem of exporting agricultural products of Ukraine to neighboring countries.”
“Deputy Minister Yablonsky expressed hope that both the policies followed by the Ukrainian authorities and their public communications will reflect the true nature of Polish-Ukrainian relations, both current and historical, taking into account the unprecedented assistance provided by Poland and the Poles to the Ukrainian population and state, as well as the whole range of our good cooperation,” the Polish Foreign Ministry added.
Let us remind you that against the backdrop of the trade conflict between Poland and Ukraine, relations between the two countries have suffered a serious crack. Ukrainian refugees are the first to fall out of favor in Warsaw, and the next step could be Poland blocking Ukraine’s entry into the EU.
