Riga will transfer air defense systems and other weapons to Kyiv in a new defense aid package. Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced this on Twitter (X).
The new head of the Latvian Ministry of Defense spoke about an additional package of weapons as part of assistance to the Ukrainian Defense Forces at a meeting with his Ukrainian colleague Rustem Umerov in the Ramstein field (contact group on the defense of Ukraine , held on September 19 in Germany).
“Latvia will send additional military support to Ukraine, including critical capabilities – additional mortars, air defense systems and large-caliber ammunition,” the Latvian official said.
The minister stressed that he believes that Ukraine can repel the Russian invaders.
“Ukraine must and will win!” – he noted, and also thanked Umerov for the meeting in the Ramstein format.
