The Ukrainian army could retake Severodonetsk, but strategically the city is not very important, said the head of the Luhansk region.
The Ukrainian military was able to drive the enemy out of Severodonetsk, while the city was not of great strategic importance. This was announced by the head of the Lugansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Gaidai in a blitz interview for Suspіlna.
“Here the military command must make a decision, because it is possible to drive out the Russians in Severodonetsk. We can do this work. The only thing is, what is the next step? They will remove and destroy everything from heavy artillery .with aircraft .values, “Gaidai said.
As noted by the chairman of the Lugansk Regional State Administration, Lisichansk has a more favorable value for the Ukrainian military due to its location. However, since Severodonetsk is a regional center, the city’s reflection will raise the morale of Ukrainians, and weaken the morale of Russians after their “strong” statements about control.
“And how do they control the city where the fighting is taking place? Just yesterday they took six prisoners. What kind of control is this? We understand that they are just lying,” Gaidai added.
Earlier, Gaidai said the Ukrainian Armed Forces had repulsed the Russian occupiers in Severodonetsk. Each side controls approximately half of the city.
Recall that British intelligence assessed the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Severodonetsk. It is said that the operational momentum previously gained by the Russian forces through the concentration of combat units and firepower has been lost.
