The Prime Minister of Romania is waiting for a proposal on the licensing of grain exports from the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal.
Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku said Romania could impose a ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products within 30 days if the country receives appropriate export requests. RFI reported it.
He added that he was waiting for proposals on licensing grain exports from the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal.
Ciolaku noted that the European Commission requested to introduce a licensing system for grain exports to EU countries. According to him, Shmygal adheres to the same position, saying that very strict control is still required.
The Romanian Prime Minister also said that after the European Commission’s decision not to extend the ban on Ukrainian agricultural products, “not a single kilogram of wheat or anything else was imported into Romania.” He mentioned that not a single customs office has received a request for the export of grain.
“If there are requests for exports to Romania, I will definitely ask the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Economy to make a general decree that the restriction will be extended for 30 days until everything is clarified. I repeat, nothing requests, and I want to assure farmers that It will not be like it was a year ago,” Colaku emphasized.
We remind you that Hungary has agreed with Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria to extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products after September 15.
As reported, the European Commission lifted the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria, subject to Ukraine’s compliance with measures that would prevent a new jump in grain prices.
