The Constitutional Court of Georgia has announced that it has accepted for consideration the constitutional proposal for the impeachment of the country’s President, Salome Zurabishvili. A decision on this matter will be made within a month, the Georgian First Channel reports.
It is noted that the document was submitted by members of the Georgian parliament: Irakli Kobakhidze, Shalva Papuashvili, Mamuka Mdinaradze and others (80 deputies in total. The authors of the constitutional submission appealed to the Constitutional Court on September 12).
After completing the registration procedure for submitting the constitution, on September 14 it was registered in accordance with the law. Accordingly, the case was referred to the plenary of the Constitutional Court, which will consider it for a month and submit a final decision to the parliament.
It was earlier reported that the ruling Georgian Dream Party is launching impeachment proceedings against Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.
