The Russian army has a duty to completely capture Severodonetsk on June 10 or cut off the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway, Sergey Gaidai said.
The Ukrainian military pushed the Russian occupiers into Severodonetsk. Each side controls approximately half of the city. The head of the Lugansk OVA, Serhiy Gaidai, spoke about it on the air on the Dom channel on Sunday morning, June 5th.
“We had a difficult situation. I talked about it, that the Russians actually controlled 70 percent of the city. But in the last two days, they threw it away, the city is now divided in half,” Gaidai said. .
According to him, the occupiers are now afraid to walk freely around the city, as they have experienced severe loss of personnel in recent days. In addition, eight Russians were captured by the Ukrainian military.
Gaidai also said the Russian army had a duty to fully capture Severodonetsk on June 10 or cut off the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway and take full control of it.
“Therefore, now there is a huge amount of forces, all reserves – all are thrown to perform these two tasks,” the head of UVA summed up.
Earlier, British intelligence assessed the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Severodonetsk. It is said that the operational momentum previously gained by the Russian forces through the concentration of combat units and firepower has been lost.
