On Friday, September 15, the Belgian government approved the country’s participation in this training program. Six Ukrainian instructors and four mission planners will undergo training in Belgium. This was stated by Belgian Defense Minister Ludine Dedonder, Le Soir reports.
In the coming weeks, the defense department will send a group of three military personnel to a training center for F-16 pilots in Denmark, which has provided its Skrydstrup airbase in the south of the country for this purpose.
And next year, the Belgians will send two two-seat F-16B training aircraft to Denmark to improve the skills of Ukrainian pilots. A contingent of 50 military personnel, mainly technical personnel, responsible for the deployment of fighter jets, will also arrive.
In addition to this important contribution to the preparation and entry into service of the fighter, our government officially declares its support in helping to realize this new capability – necessary for the modernization of the Ukrainian armed forces,” Dedonder emphasized.
Let us remember that President Vladimir Zelensky stated that Ukraine needs at least 160 fighters to prevent Russia from dominating the air. Kyiv is not going to limit itself only to American F-16 fighters, because it is also interested in receiving French Rafales.
