As part of the new assistance package, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive not only armored vehicles, but also shells, ammunition and additional military vehicles. Thus, the Ukrainian army will be replenished with 20 units of Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles with ammunition and two Wisent 1 (Bison) armored engineering vehicles for mine clearance. This was reported by the press service of the German government.
The Defense Forces will also receive:
- 8×8 HX81 tractor unit and four semi-trailers;
- five 8×8 lifting machines;
- nine vehicles (trucks/vans/all-terrain vehicles);
- three Mercedes-Benz Unimog ambulances;
- ammunition disposal material;
- satellite communication surveillance system;
- 20 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones;
- two mobile antenna mast systems;
- 10 drone detection systems.
In addition, the assistance package includes 3 thousand 155 mm shells and 1.5 million rounds of ammunition for firearms.
As you know, Wisent 1 are armored engineering tanks for mine clearance, created on the basis of a modified hull of the Leopard 1 tank. Such vehicles clear mine passages for the advancement of infantry.
In 2023, Ukraine received military aid worth 5.4 billion euros from Germany.
Let us recall that on September 12 it became known that Denmark announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $833 million, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, anti-aircraft guns and ammunition.
