They plan to exclude Russian businessman Grigory Berezkin, billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov, and former head of the Russian e-commerce company Ozon Alexander Shulgin from the list of sanctions. Sanctions against them will be lifted when such restrictions end this week. This was reported by Reuters, citing four diplomatic sources.
It is officially known that Akhmedov is involved in the Russian oil and gas sector. And Berezkin is not only close to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, but also works in a number of sectors, including media, infrastructure and energy.
In addition, Russian military leader Georgy Shuvaev, who died in 2022, is being excluded from the sanctions list.
One of the agency’s interlocutors noted that the lists were considered legally weak, which means that the European Union was not sure that they would stand trial if they were appealed.
Let us recall that on September 8, the European Union introduced new sanctions against collaborators in Crimea and the Russian Federal Security Service. Brussels considers these individuals to be involved in human rights violations.
