About 300,000 square kilometers are now mined. According to Monastyrsky, now almost half of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated by unexploded ordnance.

“This is half the territory of Ukraine. Demitting on such a scale would take five to seven, or even 10 years,” Monastyrsky said.

He noted that since the beginning of the war, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service have neutralized nearly 130,000 rounds of ammunition, including nearly 2,000 aerial bombs, and an area of ​​nearly 30,000 square kilometers has been analyzed (cleared). .

Monastyrsky, however, stressed that this was only superficial demining. Forests and forests remain dangerous. He urged Ukrainians to become familiar with mine safety rules, as well as to talk to children.

Recall, former Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky said that more than 30 million hectares of land remain mine in Ukraine. Currently, demining is carried out in the regions of Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv.
