Now Surovikin will allegedly be responsible for the administration and operation of the joint air defense system of the CIS member states.
Former commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) Sergei Surovikin, who was fired due to connections with PMC Wagner, has been appointed head of the Coordination Committee on Air Defense Issues under the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in connection with some Russian media.
Now Surovikin will allegedly be responsible for the administration and operation of the joint air defense system of the CIS member states.
However, Kremlin-linked Russian media did not report Surovikin’s new appointment or mention him after Russian dictator Vladimir Putin removed him from his position as commander of the Aerospace Forces on August 23.
Earlier it was reported that Surovikin, who was imprisoned after the uprising of the leader of the Wagner mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was released from custody.
Let’s recall that the American media said that Sergei Surovikin was a secret member of the private military company Wagner. He was part of the circle of high-ranking Russian military personnel who were VIP members of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s company.
