The country’s Ministry of Defense announced this today, September 9, Reuters reports.
President Klaus Iohannis said this was an unacceptable violation of Romanian airspace.
In a statement, Iohannis said he had briefed NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the wreckage of the drone – the second to crash on Romanian soil this week – and that Stoltenberg reaffirmed the alliance’s full solidarity with Romania.
“I strongly condemn this incident, caused by Russian attacks on Ukrainian river ports on the Danube,” Iohannis emphasized.
Let us remind you that on the night of September 4, Russian terrorists attacked the Danube ports of Ukraine with kamikaze drones. At first, the Romanian authorities denied the fall of the drone on the territory of the country, despite statements from official Kyiv that there was relevant photographic evidence. On September 6, Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar admitted that debris from a Russian drone had been found in the country.
