According to Radio Liberty, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un said that this boat “will fulfill its combat mission as one of the main underwater offensive weapons of the DPRK naval forces.” According to him, arming the fleet with nuclear weapons “is an urgent task.”

Kim Jong-un also promised to hand over more of these submarines, CNN writes, citing the North Korean state agency KCNA. The agency also shows photos from the submarine’s launch ceremony the day before.

Recall that over the past year, North Korea has strengthened its navy with new nuclear weapons, including an underwater drone and warships.
