The head of the US defense department will soon talk to his new Ukrainian colleague, and will also meet with him in a Ramstein format meeting.
The first telephone conversation between Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov will take place in the near future. Pentagon Deputy Speaker Sabrina Singh announced this at a briefing on Thursday, September 7, Ukrinform reports.
“I’m sure they’ll talk soon,” he said.
Singh noted that Washington knows about the confirmation of Rustem Umerov as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, so a telephone conversation will definitely be planned in the near future. In addition, according to him, it is expected that the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, will personally meet with Umerov at the next meeting in the Ramstein format, scheduled for the second half of this month.
Let’s recall that on September 6, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Umerov as Minister of Defense. All factions of the parliament voted for his candidacy.
