The Russian army hit one of the markets in the city center, the press service of the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office reports.
As a result of hitting shells, a fire broke out in the trading pavilions.
As of 16.00, 16 dead are known, another 31 people were injured of varying severity, the victims are receiving emergency medical care. Now there is a search and rescue operation – there are still people under the rubble.
Passenger cars and eight commercial objects were burned to the ground.
Also, according to preliminary data, damaged:
- 20 stores;
- power lines;
- administrative building;
- fifth floor of a residential building.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code).
