The draft of the relevant amendments to the regulation on accounting has been published on the official Russian portal of legal acts, Radio Liberty reports.
According to the changes proposed by the department, persons serving sentences in places of deprivation of liberty must be registered with the military in a special order – directly in a prison or colony, without appearing at the military registration and enlistment office.
Special military registration is carried out by correctional institutions of the penitentiary system and military commissariats at the location of institutions of the penitentiary system, the draft says.
It is proposed that in this case, the lists of prisoners liable for military service will be formed by the prisons and colonies themselves, changed as convicts are transported or released, and transferred to the military registration and enlistment offices.
Now the provision on military registration states that citizens who are serving sentences of imprisonment in Russia are not subject to registration. It is this subparagraph of the Russian Ministry of Defense that proposes to cancel, – the newspaper notes.
