Ukrainians called on Volodymyr Zelensky to veto a draft that does not provide public access to officials’ declarations.
Petition to President Volodymyr Zelensky calling on him to veto bill No. 9534 on continuation of electronic declarations. He scored the required number of votes in record time – immediately on the day of publication.
“I encourage the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to return to the draft law of the Verkhovna Rada No. 9534 On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on determining the procedure for submitting declarations of persons authorized to perform duties of state or local self-government under martial law with the need to immediately provide public access to the register of declarations without waiting for an annual period (veto with proposals),” said the text of the document.
The draft law should continue declaring the incomes of officials, but the main requirement of the society was not fulfilled – to disclose data on their “military” condition, the author of the petition notes.
“In this step, people’s representatives contradicted the statements of the European Union, G7 ambassadors and MEPs. The number of journalistic investigations involving people’s representatives and representatives of the executive branch is amazing- wow. Currently, hiding government declarations from Ukrainians is covering up total corruption in the country,” he added.
Consideration of the president’s petition provides a specific procedure: the document must collect 25,000 signatures within no more than three months from the date of publication. This petition has now garnered more than 40,000 signatures, and the number continues to grow.
As you know, on Tuesday, September 5, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on electronic declaration for representatives and civil servants, which removes responsibility for officials who did not indicate property in the declaration in the amount of up to 1.3 million hryvnias.
Before that, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption restored access to the register of corrupt officials, but some information was hidden in it.
