On Tuesday, September 5, Kozlovsky attended the premiere of Marysia Nikityuk’s film “I, Nina” and shared the photo on social networks.
Kozlovsky survived Russian captivity.
On January 30, 2016, it became known about the abduction of religious scholar Igor Kozlovsky in occupied Donetsk. The 62-year-old scientist remained in the city, caring for his son, who had Down’s syndrome.
Kozlovsky was detained a day after the explosion near the monument to Lenin in Donetsk, which occurred on the night of January 27, 2016. He was charged with committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 256 of the so-called “Criminal Code of the DPR” – illegal possession of explosives. However, the accusations changed several times.
Kozlovsky – Candidate of Historical Sciences, headed the Center for Religious Studies and International Spiritual Relations in Donetsk. At one time, he headed the Department of Religious Affairs of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. He taught at the Department of Philosophy of the Donetsk National Technical University. He is the author of more than 50 scientific publications. He maintained close relations with spiritual leaders, was a participant in international conferences and meetings, including with Pope John Paul II, head of the Russian Orthodox Church Alexy II, Patriarch Bartholomew II of Constantinople.
Relatives assure that the religious scholar did not publicly criticize the fake DPR.
According to relatives, Igor Anatolyevich could attract the attention of militants by participating in the interfaith prayer marathon “For Unity and Peace in Ukraine”, which lasted in March-October 2014 – he went there with the Ukrainian flag.
In March 2017, the Russians finally included Kozlovsky on the exchange list.
