The strike weapons used by Russia did not pose a direct military threat to Romania’s national territory or territorial waters, according to Bucharest.
The latest Russian drone attack did not pose a direct military threat to Romania. This statement was made by the country’s Ministry of Defense on Monday, September 4.
“The Ministry of National Defense categorically rejects information in the public space about the so-called situation that took place on the night of September 3-4, where the alleged Russian drones fell on the national territory of Romania,” the statement said .
It is said that the responsible structures of the Ministry of Defense are monitoring the situation in real time related to the attack of Russian drones, last night and on Saturday and Sunday, against the infrastructure near the ports of Ukraine on the Danube.
“At none of the stages did the strike weapons used by the Russian Federation pose a direct military threat to Romania’s national territory or territorial waters,” the department insisted.
At the same time, Bucharest emphasized that they consider these Russian attacks unjustified and contrary to international humanitarian law.
Romania’s Ministry of Defense added that it is implementing increased surveillance measures on land, at sea and in the air and is “contributing to the strengthening of defense and deterrence in the eastern part in accordance with national plans and plans within NATO.”
It will be remembered that tonight Russia attacked the south and east of Ukraine with Shahed-136/131 drones. A total of 32 drones were released. Air defense forces were able to shoot down 23 drones. Hits were recorded in the Izmail and Dnieper regions.
Later, the Foreign Ministry said that the Russian “Shaheds” fell and exploded on Romanian territory.
