The security service exposed and detained another agent of the FSB of the Russian Federation in the course of counter-sabotage measures in the Sumy region. This was reported by the SBU press service on Monday, September 4.
The traitor collected information and carried out photo and video recording of the objects of the defense forces on the borders of the region. He did this under the guise of “working” trips around the region in his own car. The agent sends the received data to the enemy through one of the messengers.
In addition, SBU officials documented that the person involved secretly left for Russian territory to smuggle contraband and meet with representatives of the aggressor country.
According to the investigation, the Russian agent became a resident of the Shostka district, which was noticed by the special services of the enemy due to contacts with criminals in the Russian Federation. The attacker was recruited before the full invasion, and after February 24, 2022, he continued to cooperate with the enemy.
SBU officers detained an attacker while trying to transfer intelligence about Ukrainian defenders. During a search of the defendant’s home and car, mobile phones containing evidence of his correspondence with the aggressor were found.
The detainee was reported to be suspected of high treason and smuggling. The culprit is in custody. He faces a life sentence.
Recall that earlier the SBU detained another member of the FSB spy network, who on May 9 was preparing an attempt on the command of the Defense Forces in the Zaporozhye region.
