The defenders of Ukraine can now maneuver equipment and troops in the direction of Zaporozhye.
Thanks to the breakthrough of the Russian first line of defense in the direction of Zaporozhye, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the opportunity to maneuver equipment and troops when attacking the enemy’s second line of defense. This was said by the spokesman of the joint press center of the Defense Forces of the Tauride direction Alexander Shtupun for Suspіlny.
“The enemy has distributed resources. If we count the three lines as 100%, then it is 60-20-20. That is, the first line of defense is heavily inherited, concrete fortifications, a large number of anti-tank weapons. The The second line also cannot be knocked down and it is said that it is a kind of There are also quite strong fortifications here, quite competently built, but here we now have the opportunity to maneuver the equipment and troops,” Shtupun said.
According to him, there are fewer minefields in the second line of defense than in the first. However, he warned Ukrainians not to think that these positions are easy to take. The spokesman added that the Ukrainian defenders manually cleared the first line of defense, “because the enemy targeted any equipment and tried to destroy it. Therefore, it had to be withdrawn.” Shtupun added that demining the second line of defense of the occupiers will be complicated, because now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the ability to occupy the infantry.
“In the first line of defense, we were breaking through a kind of narrow path, and the equipment, the infantry could not go either to the left or to the right, because there was a thick mine. Here we entered the territory where we can maneuver and the enemy must also act,” he explained.
The spokesman said the invaders were using their reserves and landing units for defense.
“The enemy is active, the enemy is constantly digging in, the enemy is taking reserves. Well, what is the quality of these reserves, they are a little lower. But now the enemy has begun to use airborne units in defense, which, in principle, is not characteristic of them. Because, as the Russians say, this is their elite. Considering, therefore, if they already use their so-called elite in defensive battles, if then something is wrong with them,” Shtupun said.
Recall that at the end of August, American General Mark Milley suggested that Ukrainian troops could break through the first line of defense of the Russian aggressors in the Zaporozhye region.
A few days later, it was reported that in the Kherson region, Ukrainian defenders forced ORDLO militants to retreat from their positions. At the same time, Russian paratroopers fled the battlefield.
