Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, said that the UN had prepared a new package of proposals with Turkey’s participation, and they believe that this could be a suitable basis for reviving the initiative.
According to the publication, the most important elements of the package are the inclusion of the European subsidiary of the Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank) in the SWIFT system and the release of the frozen assets of Russian companies producing fertilizers in Europe.
While Turkey, coordinating its diplomatic efforts with the UN, continues to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative, other alternatives to this agreement create security and cost problems, the publication says.
In order to renew the “grain agreement”, Russia requires the re-connection of Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system, the resumption of supplies of agricultural machinery and spare parts to the Russian Federation, the lifting of restrictions on ship insurance and a ban on access to ports.
Recall, on July 13, Reuters, citing sources, reported that UN Secretary General António Guterres offered war criminal Vladimir Putin to extend the “grain agreement” in exchange for connecting the “daughter” of Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT.
