The champion of Ukraine will play the first match on September 19 at home against Porto in Hamburg.
Shakhtar is the only representative of Ukraine in the current Champions League. Only he and Zorya managed to get into the group stage of the European Cups of the new season. Luhansk players will play in the third most prestigious UEFA tournament – the Conference League.
In the status of the winner of the UPL, Shakhtar directly entered the group stage of the Champions League.
Shakhtar will start in the European Cup on Tuesday, 19 September. Then the Pitmen will play a nominally home match against Porto.
Shakhtar’s schedule for the Champions League group stage is as follows:
- Tuesday, September 19 Shakhtar – Porto
- Wednesday, October 4th Antwerp – Shakhtar
- Wednesday, 25 October. Barcelona – Shakhtar
- Tuesday, November 7th. Shakhtar – Barcelona
- Tuesday, November 28 Shakhtar – Antwerp
- Wednesday, December 13 Porto – Shakhtar
As a reminder, this year the Donetsk club will play home matches in this tournament in Hamburg, last year the Pitmen played in Warsaw.
European cups have not been played in Hamburg for a long time, Shakhta wants to earn money and not play with empty stands. Shakhtar will play in the Champions League at one of the best German stadiums. The first EL final was held here, Klitschko defeated Haye, and the stadium has a cemetery for local fans.
Matches “Hamburg” in the second Bundesliga collect 57 thousand in the stands, and the team will once again try to return to the elite.
Shakhtar will receive strong support in Hamburg – already on the first day they sold 10,000 packages for the Champions League matches. According to the results of the Champions League group stage draw, Shakhtar got into Group H. The Pitmen’s opponents were Spanish Barcelona, Portuguese Porto and Belgian Antwerp.
