The winner of the first round of debates between the contenders for the presidency of the United States from the Republican Party unexpectedly became a relatively unknown candidate, millionaire of Indian origin Vivek Ramaswamy.

While Donald Trump is fighting from American justice, the Republican Party of the United States has found for him a less daring, and unfortunately less anti-Ukrainian replacement. Vivek Ramaswami, 38, exploded in the Republican debate, like Trump, he did not have the political experience to run in the presidential election.

Candidate Singer

The youngest candidate for the Republican presidential nomination was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Indian immigrant parents: his father worked as an engineer and patent attorney (responsible for registering intellectual property rights) in General Electric; mother is a doctor.

The Ramaswami family often travels to India, visiting a Hindu temple in Cincinnath. At the same time, Vivek studied at a Catholic school and for many years took piano lessons from a teacher – a fan of Ronald Reagan, who, according to Ramaswami, influenced his worldview.

Ramaswami’s political views were beginning to take hold at Harvard, where he was studying biology. The student joins the university’s political club – a springboard for political and civil service positions – and eventually becomes its president.

Back at Harvard, Vivek rapped under the pseudonym Da Vek and was a longtime fan of Eminem. Recently, the presidential candidate even performed Lose Yourself at the Iowa State Fair, where he addressed a packed audience with Republican Governor Kim Reynolds.

Reynolds asked Vivek to name his favorite song. Ramaswami happily replied that it was Lose Yourself.

Almost immediately, one of the sound engineers played a song from the movie 8 Mile, and Ramaswamy took the microphone and gave the audience a performance that went viral. But Eminem himself was not happy and banned the politician from performing his tracks in public.

What do you think about Ukraine?

In his speeches, Ramaswami positioned himself as an outsider from the Republicans, challenging the political establishment on many issues.

In particular, he is the only Republican candidate who opposes Ukraine’s membership in NATO and for territorial concessions to Moscow.

In an interview with CNN, Ramaswami said the US goal should be “not to let Putin lose, but to let America win.” In his understanding, this means allowing the current full-scale war in Ukraine to become “frozen” – “which will leave parts of Donbass to Russia.” He explained this logic by saying that the main threat to the United States is the rapprochement between Russia and China, and that American aid to Ukraine contributes to this.

Ramaswami has already publicly promised that if he is elected president of the United States, he will stop helping Zelensky’s Ukraine. After all, in his opinion, the increase in funding would be “catastrophic” and mean “protection against invasion of other people’s borders” (meaning participation in other people’s war).

He also promises to go to Russia quickly in the first year of his presidency.
