Ukrzaliznytsia and the Polish operator Polskie Koleje Panstwowe Spółka Akcyjna (PKP SA) signed a new agreement on the development of railway communication on August 28. This was reported by the press service of UZ.
According to the Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Yevgeny Lyashchenko, the Ukrainian and Polish railways agreed to cooperate to develop passenger and cargo traffic between the countries to increase the export-import potential.
“This is the first agreement of this level between the railways of the two countries since 1994,” he said.
It was noted that, in accordance with the provisions of the agreement, PKP SA will take steps to conclude separate agreements with JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in the field of railway infrastructure management, freight and passenger rail transport. Also, to produce drafts of individual agreements, the parties form joint working groups. One of the principles of the agreement is to ensure the safe and uninterrupted transportation of passengers and cargo of the parties.
In addition, the parties agree that the reloading of goods into wagons with a different track width or the rearrangement of wagons into bogies of a different track width is carried out not only by the receiving carrier in border station located in the territory of his state. , but, subject to the agreement, such operations may be carried out by the carrier, deliver the goods to the border station located in its territory.
The agreement also provides that locomotive-hauled trains between border stations for freight traffic in both directions will be operated by locomotives and locomotive crews of Ukrzaliznytsia and PKP SA in compliance with 50/50 parity .
Remember that the Polish railway from September 8 starts scheduled infrastructure repairs in Przemysl. Because of this, trains No. 89/90 Kyiv-Przemysl and No. 73/74 Kharkiv-Przemysl will be canceled from September 7 to October 6.
Hungary has also reportedly canceled some trains to Ukraine.
