Today the Ukrainian Parliament is preparing for the second reading of the Law on the circulation of civilian weapons.
Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky believes that all citizens of Ukraine should have guns to protect their homes. This was announced on Thursday, June 2, by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky in a telethon, discussing the issue of arms trafficking in the civilian population.
“In fact, our citizens have been receiving firearms testing since Feb. 24. Tens of thousands of firearms have been distributed in large cities. Today, most gun owners are on the front lines, defending our states in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions, “said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Denis Monastyrsky noted that parliament is preparing to vote on the second reading of a bill that would control the circulation of guns to civilians.
“We are convinced that parliamentarians will make appropriate changes on the 2nd reading. The circulation of weapons should be regulated at the level of the law. My personal position is that a Ukrainian must have a weapon in order protect his own home, “the minister said.
Monastyrsky positively assessed the citizens ’online survey about the circulation of guns in the civilian population, conducted on Diya’s application. He said such a survey covers the largest number of people compared to other methods of measuring public opinion.
He added that the poll “only testified to the change in public opinion after Russia’s full -scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24.”
Recall, the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a survey of citizens on the Diya mobile application about carrying firearms.
