The medieval monastery of Shio-Mgvime has been a Georgian cultural and literary center since ancient times.

In Georgia, the ancient monastery of Shio-Mgvime was almost covered by a fall that came down from the mountains, Russian media reported.

A search and rescue team is already in place. According to eyewitnesses, tourists and visitors of the complex escaped from the collapse zone, but specialists have to check everything to avoid casualties.

Shio-Mgvime Monastery is a medieval monastic architectural complex in Georgia, not far from the city of Mtskheta. It is located in a narrow limestone gorge on the north bank of the Mtkvari River, about 30 kilometers from Tbilisi.

As you know, on August 3, a landslide occurred in the Georgian resort village of Shovi. The landslide destroyed almost all the resort’s tourist facilities and damaged the infrastructure, cutting Shovi off from the outside world.

It will be recalled that on August 22, it was learned that the death toll from a landslide in the Georgian resort village of Shovi rose to 29 people.
