He told Babel that there were no complaints about them from the military.
Each jacket cost $86. (which is now equal to 3 thousand 177 UAH). Why is the price of a winter jacket 29 dollars in any Turkish documents? (now it is 1 thousand 72 UAH) – I don’t know. Perhaps we are talking about tax evasion in Turkey. In any case, this is not Ukraine’s concern,” the minister said.
Reznikov also said that the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense is already dealing with this situation, and journalists will receive all the information about this purchase.
Rakurs wrote that people’s deputy Anastasia Radina responded to Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, who offered her a couple because of the scandal with the purchase of jackets. She asked the minister to refute by 28 August that:
- The Ministry of Defense bought jackets without a tender from a “Turkish” intermediary company, one of the owners of which is the nephew of MP Gennady Kasai;
- The Ministry of Defense paid for the jackets three times as much as it is indicated in the document from the Turkish side.
If Reznikov denies this, then Radina promises to resign. If not, the minister must resign.
The author of the investigation about the jackets, the journalist of Ukrayinska Pravda, Mikhail Tkach, also responded to the proposal for a pair. He advised Reznikov to conclude not a couple, but purchase agreements at market prices and not with relatives of deputies.
According to journalists, the Ministry of Defense purchased 233,000 winter jackets from a Turkish company for $20 million. Their price on the road from Turkey to Ukraine allegedly tripled, and given the weight of the jackets, they were light, not winter. In addition, Alexander Kasai, the nephew of the people’s deputy from the Servant of the People, Gennady Kasai, was engaged in these purchases.
