As a result of Turkey’s negotiations with Russia, Ukraine and UN representatives, a roadmap for the functioning of the grain corridor was prepared under the auspices of the UN. The plan should ensure the safe flow of grain from Ukraine. All parties are expected to meet in Istanbul in the coming days to discuss the details of the roadmap.
At the quadripartite meeting, the following will be discussed:
-
export route;
-
ship insurance and safety;
-
clearing the sea from mines.
In total, it is planned to introduce 20 million tons of grain to the global market.
It was noted that President Erdogan also raised the issue of the grain corridor in a telephone conversation with the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, and the head of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky.
Recall that in order to export Ukrainian grain by sea, Russia must withdraw its fleet and provide security guarantees of non-invasion of ports and commercial convoys. This was stated on Thursday by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nikolenko in response to a statement by the Russian Federation about its readiness to enter grain -bearing vessels into the Mediterranean Sea if Ukraine removes the ports of the mines.
