The purpose of the visit of the Russian dictator, war criminal Vladimir Putin, to the headquarters in Rostov-on-Don, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the militants of the so-called Wagner PKK, who was captured during the mutiny in June, is a demonstration of power.

This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain on Twitter.
On August 19, the President of the Russian Federation made a rare visit to the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov, located 160 km from the front line. The headquarters employs military men waging war against Ukraine.
According to British intelligence, Putin met with senior officers, including the Chief of the General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, who continues to command the operation in Ukraine.
The Wagner Group briefly took over the headquarters in June 2023. Putin, most likely, wants to demonstrate his power and present the high military command as operating as usual, the British Ministry of Defense notes.
Recall that on August 23, an Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft with 10 people on board crashed in the Tver region of the Russian Federation. The Federal Air Transport Agency published the names of all the passengers – among them, it seems, was Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner PKK Dmitry Utkin and several other mercenaries.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, Putin most likely ordered the military to shoot down Prigozhin’s plane in an attempt to publicly reassert his dominance and avenge the humiliation.
