The man was detained by the South Korean coast guard. He traveled almost 300 km across the Yellow Sea.

Chinese activist and critic of Chinese President Xi Jinping Kwon Piong fled to South Korea on a jet ski. It was reported on August 22 by BBC News.

The South Korean coast guard detained a 35-year-old man who traveled nearly 300 km across the Yellow Sea on a scooter from China. The fugitive brought several cans of gasoline and refueled the car along the way.

It was known that there was no suspicion that he might be a spy.

South Korean officials have not disclosed the detainee’s identity, however, according to media reports, it is Piong, who has been persecuted by Chinese authorities for years.

A man is considering whether to apply for refugee status in South Korea.

It was previously reported that a US citizen entered the DPRK without permission, crossing the border from South Korea.
