Now there are 21 such checkpoints on the border with the European Union. And three of them were opened during the war. The Ukrainian authorities plan to create nine more checkpoints and modernize 13. On August 22, Prime Minister Denys Shmihal announced this in Telegram following a government meeting.
Also, according to the prime minister, joint customs and border control with the EU countries should start working – representatives of both states will work at one of the checkpoints. The government believes that this should minimize corruption and speed up logistics.
In addition, the implementation of the “customs visa-free regime” with the EU countries should be extended. All customs offices will need to be migrated to the new software in order to meet European standards.
Recall that the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine stated that Ukrainians evacuated from the temporarily occupied territories can return to the controlled territory through the checkpoint Kolotilovka (RF) – Pokrovka (Ukraine).
