A working group is already working on the basis of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Affairs, which should create an optimal model of the military police. And the Main Directorate of Military Justice of the Ministry of Defense is actively involved in the development of the relevant bill, which is undergoing the approval procedure. The Ministry of Defense announced this on August 21 in Telegram.
It is noted that this body will be created on the basis of the military service of law and order in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Separate powers for operational-search activities and pre-trial investigation of war crimes (in combat zones) will be transferred to him.
The main tasks of the military police will be law enforcement activities to prevent, detect, stop war crimes, operational-search activities, special prevention in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ensuring law and order and military discipline in the army, protecting state property and executing punishments.
It also provides for the compatibility of the military police with the relevant structures of NATO member states.
Recall that in June the Verkhovna Rada narrowed down the possibility of deferring from mobilization. It will be possible not to serve only if there are no other people in the family who can hold a person with a disability.
