Russian President Vladimir Putin traveled to Rostov-on-Don, where he held a meeting at the military headquarters, where the occupiers control the conflict in Ukraine.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin traveled to Rostov to demonstrate his control of the situation in the country and the Russian army. This was stated on Saturday, August 19, in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts recalled that Putin met in Rostov with the chief of the Russian General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, and senior officers at the headquarters of the Southern Military District.
“This is Putin’s first visit to Rostov-on-Don since the Wagner group took control of the headquarters in the city on June 23-24,” analysts said.
According to experts, this visit was a public gesture to show that he supported Gerasimov and his group of commanders, despite the fact that these commanders were not able to stop the rebellion of the Wagner PMC or achieve the goals of the military that Putin set for them at the beginning of the war.
“The Russian dictator is probably trying to portray himself as controlling his army,” the experts added.
Recall that the head of state of the aggressor held a meeting in Rostov with the military and heard reports from the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov, commanders of areas and other officials.
