NAPC found signs of illegal enrichment of almost 9 million hryvnias from the interim mayor of Zaporozhye Anatoly Kurtev

In August last year, during a search of the apartment that Kurtev rented together with his assistant, NABU detectives found and confiscated almost UAH 600,000, $230,000. and 650 euros.
Kurtev said that he knew nothing about the seized funds and the apartment.
His assistant, who also lived in the apartment, said that the funds seized during the search belonged to him and his parents. However, the NAPC found out that neither he nor his parents could legally receive such funds.
The agency identified signs of a corrupt criminal offense – illicit enrichment and sent the evidence to NABU for investigation.
What is known about Kurtev
From January 2014 to May 2016 – head of the “Levanevsky” cemetery of the SKP “Zaporozhye Ritual Service”.
In 2020, he passed to the Zaporozhye City Council from the Servant of the People party.
From May 2016 to April 2021 – acting head, head of the Zaporozhye Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination of the Zaporozhye Regional Council.
From April 23, 2021 to the present – Secretary of the Zaporozhye City Council.
From September 29, 2021 to the present – acting mayor of Zaporozhye.
On June 25, 2021, Mayor of Zaporozhye Volodymyr Buryak signed an order dismissing Kurtev from the post of city council secretary. The reason was given as a violation of the law “On the Prevention of Corruption” due to the filing of false information in the declaration, but on July 2, the court suspended the order.
Kurtev is listed in the Peacemaker database with the qualification “Looting” along with other officials of the Zaporozhye region and Zaporozhye due to accusations of embezzlement of humanitarian aid.
