The Secretary of State stated this on August 15 at a briefing at the Foreign Ministry.
Blinken recalled that next week it will be a year and a half after the start of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. Ukrainians are “demonstrating outstanding courage and resilience” despite Putin’s troops bombing schools and hospitals, using food as weapons, kidnapping Ukrainian children, and killing civilians.
Last week, President Joe Biden sent a request to the US Congress for $24.1 billion as part of that promise. to continue supporting Ukraine in the military, economic and humanitarian spheres. And also to help other countries that are experiencing the consequences of the Russian war … I urge Congress to immediately approve this request for additional funding, the US Secretary of State emphasized.
Blinken also pointed out that the US State Department is working with Kiev on “long-term security commitments” to help Ukraine deter potential Russian aggression in the future. We are talking about security guarantees that are ready to provide our state and other countries.
