The former president of Ukraine is suspected of inciting desertion and illegal transportation across the state border.
With the participation of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted permission to conduct a special pre -trial investigation (in absentia) against the former President of Ukraine in criminal proceedings in the circumstances of his illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine and incitement to flee (Part 2 of Article 332, part 4 of article 27, part 1 of article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, reported by the Office of Prosecutor General on June 1.
According to the investigation, on February 23, 2014, the former president, acting with the head of his security service and representatives of the Russian Federation, using three helicopters of the Russian armed forces, flew out of the village of Urzuf, Donetsk region, and illegally brought at least 20 people across the state border of Ukraine to the city of Anapa, Krasnodar Territory, Russian Federation.
On the same day, the former president, while on the territory of the military unit of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in the Cossack Bay area in Sevastopol, incited the military personnel of the State Security Department of Ukraine, who directly conducted activities of providing his personal protection, in desertion.
The court also granted permission to conduct a special pre -trial investigation (in absentia) against the former deputy head of the State Security Department of Ukraine – head of the Security Service of the President of Ukraine, who was charged with organizing the illegal migration of people across the state border of Ukraine and desertion (part 2 of article 332, part 2 .3). 1 article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The pre -trial investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by State Bureau of Investigation investigators.
Recall that earlier the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv chose a measure of detention in the form of detention for former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, who is suspected of organizing the illegal transfer of persons to the state border of Ukraine .
