PMC Wagner mercenaries moved to the Republic of Belarus after an unsuccessful military coup in the Russian Federation at the end of June.
So far, there is no direct threat from Russian mercenaries of PMC Wagner stationed in Belarus. This was announced on Saturday, August 12, by the Director of the NATO Center of Excellence in the Sphere of Strategic Communications (Stratcom), Janis Sarts, on the air of the TV3 channel, Radio Liberty reports.
He pointed out that now the Russian mercenaries are less armed and there are not many of them. In addition, they are poorly financed, and “without money, these people do nothing.”
At the same time, he did not rule out that the Russians were planning provocations on the western and northern borders.
“Some of the Wagnerians are former commandos who were trained to carry out sabotage,” Sarts said.
However, according to Sarts, “no one seems willing to finance sabotage”, so “the threat level from PMC Wagner has decreased.”
The United States of America continues to monitor the movement of Russian mercenaries of PMC Wagner in Belarus.
