The European Solidarity faction promised to initiate the resolution. CEC member Yuriy Buglak, according to Scheme, left Ukraine 12 days before Russia’s full-scale invasion and has not returned since, living with his family in the United States.
Over the past year and a half, Buglak received 1.5 million hryvnias from the state budget.
Buglak told Schemes journalists that he did not break the law, because he left before the full-scale invasion, and the CEC has since switched to remote work.
Is there a difference where to be – in Ivano-Frankivsk, in Vinnitsa or in some foreign city? In the city of Kosice or Uzhgorod? What is the difference for an official if he has the right to work remotely? Buglak commented on the Schemes investigation.
He lives with his family in a luxury complex on the Atlantic coast in the city of Hollywood. At the same time, he and his wife in Ukraine have apartments and estates near Kiev.
Over the past year and a half, the CEC member received UAH 1.5 million from the state budget for his work. This is not only a salary for telecommuting, but also assistance for solving social and domestic issues and for recovery.
As a member of the CEC, Buglak was supposed to “conduct a personal reception of citizens.”
In March 2023, the official went on parental leave. It was in that month that the members of the CEC were supposed to go offline to work.
