Cairo has not given the US a clear answer about the weapons, but Egyptian officials have told the media that they do not plan to hand them over to Kyiv.
Egypt does not plan to give its weapons to Ukraine, despite requests from the United States of America. It was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Media say that Cairo had previously planned to supply missiles to Russia, but due to Washington’s appeal, the authorities rejected such supplies.
American officials, including US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, have asked Egypt to supply weapons to Ukraine in an effort to help our country overcome its ammunition shortage.
The publication notes that Austin personally asked for military assistance to Ukraine in March during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah Khalil Al-Sisi in Cairo.
According to an unnamed US official, these are artillery shells, anti-tank missiles, air defense systems and small arms.
“In conversations with US officials, Egypt did not give a clear answer to this request, but an Egyptian official said privately that Egypt does not intend to send weapons,” the media said.
The US State Department official added that Egypt is a partner in working to achieve stability and lasting peace in Ukraine.
