The German government is studying the possibility of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles from the Bundeswehr in the coming months. Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in favor of modifying missiles prior to this.

The German edition of Spiegel writes about this, citing its sources.
On this issue, secret negotiations with representatives of the defense industry continue, since Scholz wants to make technical modifications to the missiles in order to make it impossible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike Russian territory that does not touch the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The head of the German government is “very concerned” about the escalation of the war, while the office of Defense Minister Boris Pistorius turned to the Taurus manufacturer with a request to integrate an appropriate restriction into the missiles for target programming.
According to Spiegel, Scholz will not approve the delivery of missiles until he is convinced of their technical modification. The modification of the missiles will take several weeks.
Spiegel’s sources indicated that if earlier the German Chancellor was ready to provide Taurus only on the condition that the United States transfer its long-range ATACMS missiles to Kyiv, then this condition no longer plays a major role.
