The President ordered the Foreign Ministry to call the Georgian ambassador and express a protest to him and offer him to leave Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed anger at the state of imprisoned former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and announced that Ukraine is therefore asking the Georgian ambassador to return to Tbilisi. The head of state said this on Telegram on Monday, July 3.
“We have repeatedly called on official Tbilisi to stop this bullying and agree to Saakashvili’s return to Ukraine. Our coordination partners in Ukraine have also proposed various rescue options. Today I ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to call the Georgian ambassador to Ukraine , express strong protest to him and offer to leave Ukraine within 48 hours to hold a consultation in their capital,” the President insisted.
Zelensky again called on the Georgian authorities to hand over a citizen to Ukraine for the necessary treatment and care.
“I encourage our partners to turn around, ignore this situation and save this person. No power in Europe has the right to kill people, life is a fundamental European value,” the president said.
Recall that now the imprisoned former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili for the first time since February took part in the court session via video broadcast from the clinic. He appeared in an extremely emaciated state.
