The call of the Ukrainian diplomat is connected with the imposition of sanctions against Georgian Airways.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia on Monday, July 3, summoned Ukraine’s Charge d’Affaires Oleksandr Shulga in connection with the imposition of sanctions against the Georgian carrier Georgian Airways. This was reported by the Georgian TV channel Imedi.
The Ukrainian diplomat’s visit to the Georgian Foreign Ministry lasted about half an hour, after which Shulga did not comment to the media. The Foreign Ministry of Georgia has yet to comment on the diplomat’s summons.
Recall that on July 1, the Georgian airline Georgian Airways, which continued flights to Russia, and its director Tamaz Gaiashvili were subjected to sanctions from Ukraine.
The decision sparked protests from Georgian authorities, who called such a move unfriendly.
As is known, the ruling party and the government of Georgia responded favorably to the continuation of air communication with Russia. And the country’s President, Salome Zurabishvili, called for a boycott of Georgian Airways.
