Former US president Donald Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal in 2018, but Germany, France and the UK remained in the deal.
Britain and other European states will announce plans to violate the Iran nuclear deal for the first time since 2015, as the countries will not lift sanctions against Tehran over its use of missiles, according to The Guardian .
Former US president Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the nuclear deal in 2018, but Germany, France and the United Kingdom remained in the accord – even as Iran responded to the US withdrawal by violating the agreed limits on the quality and quantity of enriched uranium.
Diplomats from the EU and the UK have explained their intention to walk away from the agreement by saying that Iran itself has violated the agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (AIDS). They also cited as an argument that Iran provided drones to Russia for use during its invasion of Ukraine. In addition, diplomats are talking about a possible transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia in the future.
The 2015 nuclear agreement included a series of dates when the West would lift some sanctions against the entities, but in 2015 the agreement is not expected to be violated too much.
The agreement limited uranium enrichment to 3.67%, but Iran enriched it to 60%.
EU sanctions will expire on October 18 in accordance with the UN resolution that sealed the 2015 nuclear deal. The sanctions “encourage” Iran to do nothing to develop nuclear-capable ballistic missiles.
The sanctions also prohibit anyone from buying from or selling to Iran or transferring drones and their parts capable of flying more than 300km without prior permission from the UN Security Council.
The future of the deal is in doubt after talks in Oman between the US and Iran, in which Iran agreed not to enrich uranium beyond 60% in exchange for the West’s release of billions of frozen fund, as well as some American prisoners held in Tehran.
The US State Department said no deal was foreseen, but the talks were marred by US Special Envoy Rob Melley being suspended without pay over the possible misuse of sensitive information.
It will be recalled that the United States Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said that the United States is not ruling out any option to ensure that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons and further destabilizes the region.
