PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin received more than 858 billion rubles (about $9.6 billion) under Russian government contracts. This was said by the host of the Vesti Nedeli program Dmitry Kiselev on the Russia 1 TV channel, Russian media reported on Sunday, July 2.
“Founded by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the private military company Wagner, under contracts concluded with the state, received more than 858 billion rubles. This is almost a trillion. Under other contracts, the holding of Prigozhin Concorde provided services for 845 billion rubles. This does not mean that they made a lot of money, but everyone is talking about the size of the business and the size of the ambitions,” said Kiselev.
At the same time, he did not specify when PMCs Wagner and Concorde received this money, nor did he explain where he got this information.
It will be recalled that on June 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian authorities “fully” financed the activities of PMC Wagner. From May 2022 to May 2023, 86.3 billion budget rubles were spent on these needs. Russia allocated another 110 billion rubles for insurance payments to mercenaries. Earlier, Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that PMC Wagner has no connection with the state.
