Emmanuel Macron plans to stay in France for the next few days to have an operational impact on the situation.
French President Emmanuel Macron has canceled a state visit to Germany scheduled for July 2-4 due to protests in the country. It was reported by Radio Liberty.
It was noted that Macron called German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier yesterday and announced the cancellation of the visit.
“Due to the internal situation, the president of the republic said he would like to stay in France for the next few days. Therefore, both presidents agreed to postpone the visit to Germany for another day,” the report said.
In France, the fifth day of protests continues, which began over the police killing of a 17-year-old boy of Algerian origin. He violated the rules of the road, then one of the law enforcement officers shot him. Police said the driver tried to run them over, but video footage shows that was not the case.
Therefore, a wave of protests rolled across the country. More than 2,500 people were detained, around 200 police were injured in the clashes.
