29 ships, which were supposed to export 1.4 million tons of food, were blocked by Russia in Turkish territorial waters.
Since June 26, Russia has completely stopped registering a new fleet, indicating intentions to disrupt food supplies in world markets. This was announced today, July 1, by the press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
It was reported that 29 ships, which were supposed to export 1.4 million tons of food, mainly for 5 countries in Asia and Africa (in particular, China, Egypt, Bangladesh, Turkey), were blocked by Russia in Turkish territorial waters .
In June, only 2 million tons were exported from Ukrainian ports. Another 1 million tonnes of food is being loaded or partially loaded on 13 ships – the latest to be registered in the “grain initiative”.
The Ministry of Infrastructure emphasized: if the registration of ships cannot be continued, then the “grain agreement” will be completely stopped.
“We support the statement of the Joint Coordinating Center that all parties to the agreement must immediately ensure the access of vessels for the export of food, because it creates a food risk for the whole world market. Only through joint efforts can the world stop Russian food blackmail. . Ukraine, for its part, will also defend the right to free commercial navigation, which is regulated in international conventions,” the ministry added.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine is preparing an alternative to the grain corridor.
