Through state contacts, Matteo Zuppi’s interlocutor may be a representative of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation.
The emissary of the Pope, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, arrived in Moscow. This was announced by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in the capital of Russia on Wednesday, June 28.
“The papal envoy for the Ukrainian settlement, the head of the conference of Italian bishops, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, will begin the second phase of his mission in Moscow on Wednesday,” the message said.
It was noted that the main purpose of the visit is “to encourage actions of humanity that can contribute to finding a solution to the current tragic situation and ways to achieve a just peace.”
Today, Zuppi will meet with Archbishop Pavel Pezzi, and on June 29, the feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul, at 19:00 local time, Zuppi will participate in a holy service in the Cathedral in Moscow.
It is said that through state contacts, a representative of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation can become an interlocutor of the Vatican ambassador.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to meet with Cardinal Zuppi.
Remember, on June 6, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with Mateo Zuppi, who visited our country. Also, the Vatican envoy talked with the head of the UGCC and some officials, in particular, Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets – they discussed the deportation of Ukrainian children.
